and there is a noticeable lack of aaa level polish. The story is lacking here, completely uninteresting. none of them felt carelessly thrown together The school and the prison in particular were some of the most creepy and terrifying levels I’ve played through in a horror game, the music is intense throughout, everything is greatly paces as enemies and chase sequences aren’t constantly being shoved down your throat the game does horror so well. You have a flashlight with you whose battery runs out pretty quickly and takes like 15 hours to recharge so you have to flash it on and off, forcing you to just push through dark hallways while music is pounding in your ears you never know what to expect… I had a love hate relationship with all of these places, the church is introducing you to the mechanics and if the first place you’re supposed to go, but each of these places have their own twist to make these locations terrifying. and all 5 of these locations have the same objective, explore, find passwords, codes, and keys, until you can gain access to the room with the card piece you need and then escape… and despite having the same goal, very location feels so uniquely terrifying. Youll be visiting a creepy school, a church, a prison, a power plant and a hospital. The foggy town of hanwell is essentially a hub world with collectables and monsters in your way… The real game begins as youre searching for the 5 different parts of this girls citizenship card to gain access to final section of the game. and my perception of this game changed completely. still not impressed… and then I stumble upon an abandoned school. foggy, creepy demon girls crawling all over the place weapons on the ground. I leave the house im in the town of hanwell. there are samples for you to collect around the world to unlock an optional mystery door. pick up an axe, deal with some creepy demon girl, go to a house to realize oh were dealing with some crazy doctor. and I run into this roided out monster that’s chasing me around as im trying to make my escape… it was tense, but still. I felt a giant lack of polish, the beginning section felt super mediocre. And at first I thought this is just going to be some generic try hard outlast wanna be. What you do with them is up to you, be resourceful and pick up whatever you can find in order to fight them. They occasionally get into the once protected buildings. Unexplained noises, something in the corner of your eye or laying just beyond the shadows create an atmosphere that will keep you constantly on edge. There is something deeply unsettling about Hanwell. Strung together by the remnants of Hanwell. Explore a dense open world of terror, every building a unique location with its own story to tell.
